As the concept of Ladybug Land started to crystallize, the work of Ladybug Land truly began with the collaborative renovation of our dilapidated chicken coop into the pine-clad woodland haven now named the Coop Cottage. During the quiet but moderately safer chapter of COVID-19 in March, 2021, we were hosting more and more friends looking for an escape from NYC and quickly running out of bedrooms in our modest family house. We began discussing a full-scale barn renovation but realized a smaller-scale endeavor, say, the size of a former chicken coop, would have a quicker turnaround and the labor would be manageable with a small team within our immediate community. Enter dear friend and longtime Ladybug Land hero, Wyatt Burns (A2D Productions, Permanent Maintenance Studio) , who we hired to be our foreman and visionary on this project that demanded a tight budget and a lot of creative thinking.
